Mum was never keen on big parties or fuss.... I remember she found out about her surprise 60th and insisted on it being cancelled! I managed to persuade her to spend a day on the river with close friends for her 80th and we had a lovely, special, decadent day when she truly felt spoilt and laughed and chatted with her best friends.
